Would you please be so kind to suggest binding for Coco B/S and addi top. Also with or without purflings

Here's a guitar I'm working on right now that has coco back/sides and a spruce top. I used bloodwood binding and curly maple purfling for the sides and back, and LMI's bwbw purfling for the top.





I like bloodwood for binding, especially with cocobolo.

The coco was from the Zootman, btw.

Here's a combination I have gotten a few compliments on...Curly eucalyptus (from the Zootman), b/w/b purfling on the top, black purfling on the sides:

Depends on what your going after, Ebony is going to be a calming out line, that is great! Especially on highly figured woods. But if your going after flash, flamed maple or Koa or something of that nature looks great too!
On this guitar, we minimalized (<-- is that a word?) the top and side purfling and flashed up the bindings.

the guitar I'm working on right now has camatillo rosewood b&s, and I went with boxwood for the binding. The camatillo is so heavily figured that the plain boxwood looks really nice. Might consider that if your coco is crazy and you're not into ebony.

Bob, these are all good suggestions. My only advice would be to hold the binding strips up against the sides and see for yourself how they look together.
I've had "beautiful" binding schemes in my imagination, only to be rejected because they looked terrible when actually held against the guitar.
So you need an assortment of strips available, with which to experiment!

I have a couple coco's on the go - first one is bound in coco, purf is blk/orange/blk, the other is also coco bound, but the purf will be braz rw/maple.

I have also done coco with ziricote binding, with blk/red/blk/ or blk/mapl/blk purf. They all look good, just different.

ive seen a guitar by john mayes with coco/adi and it had maple binding with purfling on the top only. it was very, very nice. that would be my suggestion as someone else, i believe, stated earlier as well. i also think that ebony purfling would look nice as well with the maple binding.
